Hair loss can affect people of all ages and genders, and it is often a frustrating struggle for those who deal with it. Losing your hair may make you appear older and more tired than you actually are and can cause other self-confidence-related issues that are less than desirable.
The Importance of a Hair Loss Evaluation
Early recognition and prevention is the best way to combat hair loss. Since there are many different causes of hair shedding and many different types of hair loss, treatment plans are highly client-focused and individualized for personal needs.
Our NOVA Hair Loss Clinic at NOVA Plastic Surgery and Dermatology does comprehensive hair loss evaluations for both men and women. We use the HairMetrix® technology to target the root cause of your hair loss, see the progression, decipher what treatment is needed, and evaluate how successful future treatment will be.
Understanding the Role of Dermatology in Hair Loss
Since your hair grows out of your scalp, it’s important to note that any conditions affecting your scalp can also affect your hair loss. These scalp conditions can be assessed during your hair loss evaluation, and you may discuss things like dry scalp issues and tightly pulled-back hairstyles with your provider.
What Are My Hair Loss Treatment Options?
During your hair loss evaluation, you’ll get an idea of the cause of your hair loss and what treatment may work best. However, before you have any evaluation, you can familiarize yourself with some treatment options to be better prepared for questions to ask your provider.
What is Neograft®?
NeoGraft® is a less invasive hair transplant procedure. Using a state-of-the-art medical device, NeoGraft® removes healthy hair follicles and relocates them to hair loss areas. A NeoGraft® transplant is also known as a follicular unit extraction (FUE) hair transplant.
FUE hair transplant differs from older hair transplant techniques, such as the follicular unit strip surgery (FUSS) technique, which removes a strip of skin from the thickest part of the hair and divides that strip into tiny grafts to be individually transplanted to the problem areas. FUE hair transplants with NeoGraft® are considered to be less invasive because no scalpel or sutures are needed.
Do PRF injections work for hair loss?
Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) injections are an excellent way to activate new hair growth and give your hair a thicker appearance. PRF is created by taking a sample of the patient’s blood, removing red blood cells, and then improving the leftover plasma with platelets.
PRF injections are placed in thinning hair areas to stimulate the dormant hair follicles and improve the quality of hair that will grow. Many patients favor this option because it is not associated with dangerous side effects other hair restoration methods have, and it costs significantly less than a hair transplant.
Can I take supplements to stop hair loss?

These products and supplements have been proven to increase hair growth and thickness. Nutrafol aims to target the contributing factors of your hair loss, and specific products in the collection, such as Nutrafol for Men Supplements and Nutrafol Stress Reliever, cater to the individual.
