What Is Lollipop Breast Reduction Surgery?

Lollipop breast reduction is a plastic surgery procedure also known as short-scar breast reduction.

This reduction mammaplasty technique uses fewer incisions to remove excess tissue and reshape the breasts, reducing the amount of scarring.

Unlike traditional breast reduction, the short-scar technique does not create a scar along the lower breast crease (inframammary fold). It uses small incisions around the areola and a vertical incision down the underside of the breast.

In everything that NOVA Plastic Surgery does, we believe in building confidence, creating trust, and offering peace of mind.

Who Is an Ideal Candidate for Lollipop Breast Reduction?

Ideal candidates for short-scar breast reduction are women who want smaller breasts without extensive scarring. Women may want to reduce the size of their large breasts for many reasons, including physical comfort, medical concerns, or social reasons.

The short-scar technique may not be suitable for all women. If more extensive correction is needed, a traditional breast reduction may be needed.

What Will Be Covered During My Lollipop Breast Reduction Consultation?

During your consultation, Dr. Nukta will examine your physical condition and ask about your aesthetic goals.

Based on these factors, he may recommend a lollipop breast reduction, traditional breast reduction, or a breast lift procedure as needed.

How Is a Lollipop Breast Reduction Performed?

Our plastic surgeons perform short-scar breast reduction using the lollipop incision technique.

This involves an incision around the areola and down vertically to the inframammary fold (in the shape of what looks like a lollipop). The incision around the areola may involve two concentric circles (in the shape of a donut).

This incision placement allows your plastic surgeon to reposition your nipple and areola while removing excess skin. They will also remove unwanted fat and glandular tissue. This procedure can reshape the breasts to make them rounder and slightly lifted.

The short-scar technique allows your plastic surgeon to recontour and lift the breasts as part of a single procedure. This means that you may not require a separate breast lift surgery if your breast sagging is minor.

Can I Combine My Lollipop Breast Reduction With Other Procedures?

Yes. This breast reduction technique is often combined with breast lift surgery if a patient has significant breast sagging.

Some patients may add localized liposuction as part of the reduction procedure. Under some circumstances, patients may also combine breast reduction with fat transfer (fat grafting) to further adjust the contours of their breasts.

What Is Recovery Like After a Short-Scar Breast Reduction?

The recovery time after a short-scar breast reduction is a bit shorter than recovery after a traditional breast lift. Most patients recover within a week to a week and a half but should avoid vigorous exercise for several weeks.

You will need to wear a compression garment during your recovery to reduce swelling and speed the healing process.

When Will I See My Lollipop Breast Reduction Results?

Initial breast reduction results are usually visible within a week or two as swelling subsides. Final results may take several months to fully develop.
