sciton_joule_eq4Photorejuvenation has more than one name: photo facial, BBL (BroadBand Light) therapy, and IPL (Intense Pulse Light) therapy. It involves the use of specific lightwaves to treat a number of skin conditions, including fine lines, age spots, uneven skin tone, rosacea, hyperpigmentation, and other blemishes. The treatment doesnt involve as much downtime as a traditional laser treatment, so its an excellent option for clients without time to devote to recovery. Here, we answer a few common questions about photorejuvenation.

How Does It Work?

The machine is set to a specific wavelength. The light waves heat up your skin cells, generating new collagen, which evens out your skin tone, firms the area, and gives your skin a rejuvenated, younger-looking appearance. The heat also destroys make of the tiny, red blood vessels that can appear on your face.

Is It Painful?

Most clients have very little, if any, discomfort with a photorejuvenation. You wont even require a topical anesthetic. Some patients describe the sensation as that of a slight rubber band snap on the skin.

How Long Does It Take?

BBL treatments can take anywhere from a few minutes to about half an hour, depending on the size of the treatment area.

What Is Recovery Like?

Theres no downtime, so you can put your makeup on and return to your normal activities as soon as youre done with the treatment. Youll need to keep out of the sun and wear sunscreen consistently, as the treatment makes your skin sensitive to UV light. Your surgeon may give you after-care products for your skin to help minimize any redness or dryness.

Do I Need Multiple Treatments?

Most clients need about five treatments to get optimal results, with two to four weeks between each treatment. This is an average, so your individual situation may be different. After your initial treatment packages, you might need touch-up treatments over the years.

Where Can I Get Photorejuvenation?

You can get photorejuvenation on almost any area of the body. The face, hands, shoulders, and chest are the most popular areas, as they are the most often exposed to sun damage.
